Why Branding Is Important

What is a brand without branding? Nothing. What is a brand with branding? Everything. While conducting research on the significance and relevance of branding, I decided to put the theory to test. If you look at the below image, it is almost impossible to imagine any product appearing as is in retail stores. For the purposes of my hypothesis, let's assume these are your standard facial products - face wash, moisturizer, toner and night cream.

Much like most consumers, I shop with my eyes and have made purchases due to a product having caught my attention. I showed this image to a colleague of mine and asked whether she would buy these if she saw them in store as is. She sheepishly responded, "No. I want to know what I'm buying, how can I trust something that has nothing on it?" Her point was valid, and this further cemented my sentiment on why branding is important.

The importance of branding as listed and extracted from various sources are:
- Branding establishes an identity for your products.
- It creates user loyalty.
- Good branding increases the value of a company, it gives employees a sense of direction and motivation, makes acquiring new customers easier.
- It gives you a competitive edge in the market.
- Improves recognition.
- Supports advertising.

There are endless reasons and evidence that backs the theory as to why branding is a vital key to any business.
